WHAT IS CLEAN EATING?
Im sure by now everyone has heard about 'Clean Eating'. As long as anyone can remember there has always been a new fad that people talk about, some people try it out, results last a little while and most of the time people just slot straight back in to their old routine and bad habits and with this comes the loss of anything good gained in that time they stuck to the diet. The difference with clean eating is that its not a diet at all, its simply a lifestyle change or choice. Its deciding to not put anything into your body that contains any form of processed or refined ingredients. Its not about counting how many calories you have had, counting your meals or depriving yourself of the things you love. Some times it can be easier to stick to something when you introduce it slowly into your lifestyle. I personally started with raw treats. I ate my normal diet for breakfast, lunch and dinner but when it came to my treats i would choose raw. Previously, I did at one stage have a Kit Kat addiction (ah the good old days.. just kidding ha ha) so I'm not saying its easy but you can research and educate yourself about ways to get your chocolate or sweet fix without all the refined sugars.
I, myself am still trying to get to a 100% clean eating diet. I have found that the two things to have when making the decision to eat clean is 1 - Knowledge and 2 - Will power. Having the first certainly makes the 2nd a lot easier. Once you start to realise exactly what go's into processed and refined foods you don't think twice about abusing your poor insides again. Educating ourselves about different foods can be really exciting. I know that when I start reading health articles I'm constantly learning about a new super food thats been around for a zillion years and we are only just getting on the band wagon of it's benefits.
Recently I have come across a super food called Raw Organic Maca Powder by Loving Earth. Its from Junin, Peru. An energising and revitalising superfood of the Incas. Jam packed with vitamins, minerals, enzymes and all the essential amino acids. Grown at 4,000m above sea level in the Andean district of Junin by the Pumpush people who have been cultivating and consuming Maca as a staple food for thousands of years. Contains unique alkaloids, which help stimulate the master glands that in turn may help optimise and balance the entire endocrine system. I add this to my morning smoothie every single day, and on the odd occasion where I miss my morning smoothie by 3pm I really notice my lack of energy. It's been said that it is like a natural 'pre-workout' drink. But not at all bad for you. I just love the fact I can put something in my body that is beneficial for my insides and its straight from the earth. But, had I not sat down and decided to start taking notice of all this 'clean eating' talk, I would never have heard about it. Thats just one example anyway that I thought i would share with you.
Foodie Essentials Hamper
With my new online business Hamper & Hamper, I wanted to have a collection of unique items made by small businesses from Australia. I designed a hamper called Foodie Essentials Hamper. I adore every item in this hamper. But today, I especially wanted to talk about my supplier Clean Tea's Green Tea which is certified organic. Green tea has to be the healthiest beverage on the planet. The chinese have been drinking Green Tea for centuries and it is a well known fact that it has many health benefits. It is loaded with antioxidants and nutrients that have powerful effects on the body. This includes improved brain function, fat loss, a lower risk of cancer and many other incredible benefits. I admit that hearing all this positive research about green tea and weight loss, I was filling my supermarket trolley with all things green tea!! People exercising who drink green tea have been proved to lose weight twice as fast as people exercising that are not drink it. As I spoke about earlier, just changing one thing in your diet is a good start or at worst better than not changing it at all.
Try having a green tea mid morning and after dinner.
